R&D Scientist (Energy Storage and/or Supercapacitors)
Norma
About the startup
🎯 We are revolutionizing Direct Air Capture (DAC) by developing a unique electrochemical process 6x more energy efficient than first generation and 2x better than the most ambitious second generation technologies. At scale, we estimate the cost to be well below $100/ton, unlocking the potential of DAC at scale, and paving the way towards Net-Zero emissions.
We are expanding rapidly, and it's an exciting time to join us! We've got a brilliant team, top-tier investors, and amazing collaborators on board. If you're passionate and eager to make a real impact, good news- we have a seat reserved for you. 😉
About The Role
We are looking for a R&D Scientist in energy storage to help us optimize out first fully integrated prototype of a unique technology with a 10x improvement potential on current benchmarks.
The role will focus on leading and executing research, development, and upscaling efforts, ensuring the most effective pathway to industrial fabrication and supply chain integration.
Location: HQ in Paris, lab in Paris downtown - we can sponsor relocation visa if needed
Language: English fluency required. French is not mandatory.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the study and optimization of core technology components to enhance performance and scalability. Conduct experiments and simulations (e.g., COMSOL) to guide R&D strategy and accelerate technological advancements.
- Oversee and execute the fabrication and upscaling of core components from prototype to industrial scale, ensuring readiness for supply chain integration and industrial manufacturing. Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements for the energy storage technology we are developing.
- Build and leverage industry and academic networks to support development and commercialization efforts, including assisting in the preparation and development of European grants involving consortia.
Ideal Background(s)
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in a relevant field (Energy Storage, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or related discipline) and/or a minimum of 2-3 years of meaningful industry experience in energy storage.
- Proven experience working with energy storage devices from TRL 4 onwards, including large-scale applications. Expertise on Supercapacitors is a plus
- Hands-on expertise in fabrication & R&D;
- Knowledge of quality regulations and industry standards for energy storage technologies and understanding of industry challenges, supply chain logistics, and existing bottlenecks.
- Experience with simulations and modeling (e.g. COMSOL, DFT, MATLAB) to inform R&D strategies and circuit modeling.
- Expertise in project management, successfully delivering complex projects on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to manage a project, from cost to people and time constraints.
What We Offer
We are an early-stage company building a world-class team, and a game-changing technology based on an ambitious vision, and we are 100% committed to it.
On top of the opportunity to make a REAL impact in the climate fight, we offer:
- Full-time (CDI) contract
