Job Summary

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of our systems, including reactor engineering and associated thermal and chemical processes. You will play a key technical role in scaling our technology from the laboratory to industrial scale, ensuring high performance, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

You will supervise junior engineers, coordinate cross-functional activities with internal teams and external stakeholders, and act as a technical advisor to the CTO and leadership team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process design and technical leadership 🧠

    • Lead the modelling and simulation of complex chemical and thermal processes using ASPEN and other process design tools.

    • Define the architecture and scaling strategy of core systems: reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, etc.

    • Conduct advanced thermodynamic analyses to improve energy efficiency and robustness of the process.

    • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and interns within the process team.

  • Industrial scale-up & pilot oversight 🏭

    • Define process requirements and operating conditions for pilot and industrial systems.

    • Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of lab and industrial pilots.

    • Ensure compliance with process safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

    • Interface with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, and external engineering firms.

  • Innovation & strategic process improvement ⚙️

    • Lead process innovation initiatives to reduce CAPEX/OPEX and improve system performance.

    • Define testing protocols and validation strategies for new process developments.

    • Analyze performance data from pilots and tests to drive iterative process improvements.

    • Support strategic decisions regarding process design choices and industrial partnerships.

Profile

  • Master’s or PhD in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial process design, scale-up, and operation, ideally in energy, thermal systems, chemical processes, or CO₂ utilization.

  • Proven expertise in process modelling and simulation, particularly with ASPEN or equivalent tools.

  • Strong knowledge of heat and mass transfer, reactor engineering, and thermodynamic analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience contributing to or managing pilot plant design, construction, and operation.

  • Ability to lead technical workstreams independently and collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, mechanical engineering, operations, and external partners.

Additional Assets 💡

  • Exposure to startup or first-of-a-kind industrial projects.

  • Experience in carbon capture, power-to-X, or fuel synthesis technologies.

  • Experience in startup or scale-up environments.

  • Familiarity with process safety and regulatory compliance for chemical processes.

Conditions

  • 📄 Contract: Full-time (”CDI”)

  • 🏢 Location: Campus Air Liquide, Les Loges-en-Josas (France)

  • 💰Compensation: competitive salary, starting from €65K gross annual, adjusted according to experience + bonus.

  • 💙 Benefits: we offer flexible hours and leave, remote work options, growth opportunities, continuous training, regular team-building events, as well as coverage for health insurance, transportation, and sports activities.
